Memory lane

When I was finished with a job in Liverpool on Monday, I punched in the postal code to the house where I lived in Southport in the 70's; it read 23 minutes to destination! I used to remember it being more like 45-60 mins, anyhow I went that way back. I gave an old mate a call and popped in for a chat at his work. It's 11 years since I was back there and things have really changed a lot. Headed back south later and called it a day in Nantwitch where I also used to live for a short while as an eight year old.
Got up early and had a brisk 5km into the town and past the old pub we used to own, The White Horse Inn; it really looked a lot smaller than I could remember but then, I was a lot smaller as well.
Really was nice running in the early morning Cheshire air on a bright and sunny morning.
Of course, a nice start to the day had to be dogged by car trouble on the way back to Portsmouth which made the journey into a nearly 7 hour slog!
Day off tomorrow and so time for some cross training.
