The better half

Well, that was the last long run (22km) and it went OK though the legs were getting a bit tired on the last 3k and it makes me wonder whether I'll be able to do the whole 42k. Then again, the marathon isn't meant to be that easy, not meant to be a run that average Joe can get out of bed th next day and walk like it never happened. I have to be realistic though, a sub 4 hour is probably a bit too much and I will lower my sights to sub 4:30 and be quite happy to beat 4:15. Then again, who knows, it might just be one of those days where all parts of the body are in tune; no aching muscles, no knee pain, no lower back pain, lungs at 100% and a feeling of unlimited energy - gota admit, those days are few and far inbetween but, they do come. Unfortunately for me, my weight loss isn't going that well and I seemed to have plateaued the last couple of weeks. Still, there's two weeks yet and every kilo is one kilo less to drag around and over 42k, a kilo is ..... a lot! Confirmed also that I need bags of gel due to my 100kg + weight, I reckon at least 10 gels ontop of what's on offer on the day, hell, I'll look like a gunslinger with all those gels slotted around the waist! My muscles/legs weren't half as tired as they were on the previous run of the same length thanks to double the amount of gels.
