Getting it done
Nov1320082:10 a.m.
Have had a couple of days off but wasn't worried because I knew I was coming away on an overnight business trip and that usually affords a) a treadmill and b) hours of free time. That was the case today after a roughly five hour drive. I brought both indoor and outdoor running gear but with the days so short right now and the weather rather crappy (foggy and maybe 42F for the high) the treadmill seemed like a best option, especially in an unknown town. So got my 6 miles in on the TM without incident, and am now eating dinner in a little cafe in this Midwestern college town. I ran pretty easily, something like a 10:24 pace, but would have to say it was probably the best-feeling run I've had since my marathon. Yay!

a_bet_made_me 'Sounds a great session, and a great time too!!! As for the weather.. that seems to be the norm here in Dublin, Ireland and the moment.... most nights have been foggy, and rather "crisp" - however that's my favourite weather to run in, outside! I love the cold!! However in saying that, I know where I am running, and understand that in a strange town you could easily get lost and on such a night it was the right thing to do.. the treddie, if I was in your shoes I'd have done the same, but slower!!!! A 4.41 marathon is NOT SLOW!!!!!' added 13th Nov 2008

drakethecat 'ABMM, you are so nice. Thanks for all the supportive comments. I agree, I don't mind running outside in that kind of weather at all, as long as it's light. Like my weekend long runs at home in Chicago. 40 degrees, 30 degrees, no worries. As it turned out there were a number of nice running routes listed for the town I was in on usatf.org (I use that site to seek out routes when i'm on the road0 but not enough daylight to check 'em out. When I finally drove into town this morning in daylight from my outskirts hotel I saw a couple of nice parks.' added 14th Nov 2008
