Ok,so I have a Golden Bond place for the Virgin London Marathon 2010!! Yipee!!

Im raising money for LOOK which helps kids with visual impairments and will be donning a fancy dress of sorts to help me along the way. I was unlucky in the 2000 ballot and have always wanted to do a Marathon.....and its taken 10 years!

Im looking forward to the training although it's been a while since the running. Was always fit until children came along so the challenge should be fun!!

Hopefully this blog will keep me motivated!

Morning!!

I am mentally preparing myself for Sunday's Half Marathon in Inverness. Yup..That is how I choose to spend Mother's Day. As much as the idea of sitting on my bum with chocolates and the 3 men in my life is tempting, I am going to run for a few hours instead around Inverness.

This will be my first half but it is fitting in with the overall picture  of training so should be a good experience.

Last Sundays run was the furthest 11 and a bit miles. I say "a bit" because it involved running around a few lamposts just to get me to 11 miles but then back to my car!! lol   I had taken a new route to save me from boredom but by then end my mind was wandering and my ankle was niggling. I was also cold (which I just can't seem to avoid)

There were plenty of other folk running and cycling so it was actually my first run where I had to avoid people!

I was really happy that I had done it and feel more positive now.

I never appreciated  the distance before I started running..now I do. Cool

Fundraising... I have finished with my Quiz night letters now.Thank goodness. All in all I got some good stuff. I have the usual toiletries and chocolates etc but I've also got theatre and football tickets, restaurant and gift shop vouchers, massage, and a signed cycling top from Mark Beaumont.

As far as the cycle top goes I am hopeful that I can advertise with some local cycle groups  about the top.Since Mark is still in the news ( in Scotland) I 'm hoping some of his fans might like to come and bid on the top.

I am about to attempt to make Tablet to sell too. If you've never tried it..you should. Its the most sugary, tooth rotting thing you could ever eat! I think it's a Scottish thing.

It basically involves a lot of boiling sugar! So I'm putting my health at risk by even making it.lol

http://scruss.com/tablet.html

I have a few takers so if it means i get another £100 for LOOK I shall do it.

Hopefully I can post my tablet updates here....I might be missing some skin due to flying sugar but fingers crossed!!

Happy Running!!!

Urgh, I am starting to get nervous about everything now!!

Its been a few week since my last blog and the running has been going well.I have had to seriously stop reading other Buzzer's posts about mileage and progress because it is playing havoc with my brain.

Because of my dodgy feet etc I've had to rethink what was left of my makey-up training plan and have sorted something out (thanks to help from these forums) So I have been getting out running during the week, just around the 3 miles mark...last Sundays was 8 and a quarter.

Tomorrow its a ten.I'm taking a different route...down by the river for a change of scenery. I have more good tunes on the iPod and making sure I eat and drink well today. I NEED this ten to go well....it's been a while since I was back there and I'm scared!! I have the Inverness Half next week so hopefully that can just slot in .I'm not racing just a pleasurably 'jog'

I caught the first episode of Eddie Izzard's Marathon thing the other night and it's really helped with my motivation.Surely I can do this???? (just the one though!)

I'm glad the weather has been improving. It's helping my mood to have a bit more daylight!

Not long until my Quiz night.I'm STILL sending letters and I'm getting nervous about it all. I've had a little boost as I met Mark Beaumont on Thursday night.

For those that haven't heard of him...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/cyclingtheamericas/2009/05/welcome-to-cycling-the-america.shtml

and he had the record for cycling around the world (for a short time!)

So he stole my parking place in Tesco and I went to have a chat with him lol

(In all honesty I have met him a few times before and I had mentioned that I was running the marathon so I wasnt a parking-place stalker or anything)

He is still adjusting to being back home and hates being in Tesco so I waffle on about my marathon effort. He is very kindly going to donate a cycle top for my auction!   Great... I leave him to his shopping and head home....forgetting to change from 4th to 5th gear on the dual carriageway resulting in some burning stench in my car! lol

My mind was full of Quiz night stuff on the way home and how best to get more funds.  Arghhhhhhh. Its taking over my life.

Last night was spent stuffing envelopes.Today I'm posting more stuff...

I thinking of doing a cake sale soon and perhaps roping some friends in to help at their workplaces. I find it hard because I dont work that I dont have access to loads of people!!

Wish me luck for my ten miles tomorrow and have a fab weekend! x

Evening!

So I dared go out for a run this evening.I was really starting to get cabin fever and couldn't bear a horrid, sweaty gym session.

I spent good time warming up which was difficult as it's minus -god-knows what here tonight. And then I set off.Argh I was actually nervous for my knee!!!  But it was okay!!!!! I kept really slow and really concentrated on my form and occasionally squeezing my lazy bum cheeks (not with my hands now!)

I did 20 minutes and thought that was sufficient for a freezing night when I havent run in so long.I feel really happy now- did all my stretches etc like a good girl...Its just so nice to run again.

I'm back to physio on Thurdsay and I guess we'll take it from there.I might get a massage done next week to treat myself.

It's  just one of those weeks when you feel you havent accomplished anything!.

Almost a week since physio session and been glute bridging and squeezing every moment I can without looking weird.. I went to the gym last night for some cardio stuff.I did plan on doing weights but there were too many men hogging the mirror and I felt a bit intimidatedInnocent I was pleased I made it to the gym because it's so easy to talk yourself out of it.

I did have a little jog on the dreadmill but I felt guilty so went back to walking lol...will be back there on Thursday for much of the same.

On the fundraising front I have a MASS of letters that still need enveloped and sent out to family and friends.I'm just about finished with applying for prizes for the raffle and auction..the quiz is on  23rd March so I will see if I can shift some last minute stuff.

I am getting to do a 2 day collection outside my Tesco Metro but I need to sort out a license as they dont have a forecourt-just onto the public road. But it's good news that I'm getting 2 days....

I'm also having a wobble about the BIG DAY in London. We're staying on the Old Kent Road and I have NO clue as to how/when/ where I am going!! and worried about getting to the start etc    (i'm not the only one I hope!!) I'm coming from Scotland so a longish way!

I've been in a bit of a funny mood too...maybe because it's due to lack of running and feeling like I'm not getting anywhere.

The days are flying in and I'm dreading hitting March!!!

Happy Running x

Well what a difference a day makes. I'm a lot happier now having had my first physio appointment this morning.

Turns out I have a weak ass?? Who ever heard of such a thing lol ? I know I spend a lot of time on it but hey...

I also have a very overpronated left foot which I kinda thought I had  just by looking at it! Freaky! My trainers are fine and I had been given the correct type- I just need insoles for extra support. They feel so bizarre but if it sorts some of the problem then there we go.

Before Appointment.

After Appointment

And yes before I am reported for faking my photographs I am aware that I have used my right leg for photographic purposes when my sore knee is on the left leg. I just couldn't be arsed wiping the pen off to draw another face!!

I have to keep up with the cross training and have loads of exercises to sort out the bottom. I'm allowed a little jog on Sunday with the insoles.Hurrah!!!

Fundraising side.. my leaflets arrived today.

And the back!

They're for family and friends -well a little bit of begging is ok amongst family methinks!!

So all in all a more positive day and all the more cheery for permanent markers on my legs.!!

Mwah xxxxxx

Well I didn't have a good one last night. Having not been running for a week I tried a little jog .Nope ...didn't happen.Almost immediately felt discomfort in my kneecap when my foot strikes. walked a little and tried again.. ANDDDDDD ...no!

Cue me in tears walking home again.

I was really gutted.I thought the icing and painkillers would magic it all away but it's still there...only when I run though!! Which is just stooopid as I have a marathon to run in April.

Tsk,so last night I was VERY down. Thought of failing myself (yet again) failing the charity. More tears.

I just SHOULDN'T HAVE TRIED TO DO TOO MUCH!!! arggghhhhh.

So tomorrow I am off to see a physio to see what I've done and what can be done.

It sounds like Runner's knee but then Google is never your friend and therefore it could be something monstrous and contagiousLaughing

Keep fingers crossed that it will be okay.I don't want to break any marathon records just have a good try.

Anybody got any success stories of knees???

Happy Running or Sitting x

Ok....who was it??

Got a mere smattering of snow last night but I ain't running on it!

My knee has still been giving me niggles and even although I rested it it seemed to get worse...not devastatingly bad but enough for me to leave the running. I'm blaming it on running too fast and/or/both wearing cheapie Uggs around the house which give as much support as walking with jelly round your ankles...

So after improvising an ice pack with freezer bag and 80p worth of green dishwashing liquid I have iced ,anti inflammed and rested.

Tonight I may go for a walk to see how it is and then work on some core work at home and helping my quads a bit.

I also have a little boy with an ear infection today so not getting too much done around the house.

I really need to get my bum in gear about fundraising. It's very easy to get out the flow and then you realise that your still hundreds of pounds away!!!

Well tis Thursday yet again..where does the time go. I still need to sort travel to London, fancy dress, leaflets, flyers blah de blah de blah. Urghhhhh! And runningCool

I treated myself to a Premium Account today. (wooooooohhhh) so I now have a nice pink set up. I am sooooo not girly but today I fancied it and I bought myself some socks with the discount lol.

Hope everyone is training hard one way or the other.xx

Put this here because it reminds me of nicer weather and I took the photo.lol
