Ok,so I have a Golden Bond place for the Virgin London Marathon 2010!! Yipee!!

Im raising money for LOOK which helps kids with visual impairments and will be donning a fancy dress of sorts to help me along the way. I was unlucky in the 2000 ballot and have always wanted to do a Marathon.....and its taken 10 years!

Im looking forward to the training although it's been a while since the running. Was always fit until children came along so the challenge should be fun!!

Hopefully this blog will keep me motivated!

Ok....who was it??

Got a mere smattering of snow last night but I ain't running on it!

My knee has still been giving me niggles and even although I rested it it seemed to get worse...not devastatingly bad but enough for me to leave the running. I'm blaming it on running too fast and/or/both wearing cheapie Uggs around the house which give as much support as walking with jelly round your ankles...

So after improvising an ice pack with freezer bag and 80p worth of green dishwashing liquid I have iced ,anti inflammed and rested.

Tonight I may go for a walk to see how it is and then work on some core work at home and helping my quads a bit.

I also have a little boy with an ear infection today so not getting too much done around the house.

I really need to get my bum in gear about fundraising. It's very easy to get out the flow and then you realise that your still hundreds of pounds away!!!

Well tis Thursday yet again..where does the time go. I still need to sort travel to London, fancy dress, leaflets, flyers blah de blah de blah. Urghhhhh! And runningCool

I treated myself to a Premium Account today. (wooooooohhhh) so I now have a nice pink set up. I am sooooo not girly but today I fancied it and I bought myself some socks with the discount lol.

Hope everyone is training hard one way or the other.xx

Put this here because it reminds me of nicer weather and I took the photo.lol

10 MILES!!!

Oh yes...am I happy? Hell yeah. Have reached double figures at long last.

It was a horribly, cold morning when I set out but at least it wasn't frosty.I decided against using my Ipod for the first few miles because it was so quiet and peaceful running along the country roads.

6 cars,3 deer, and 1 empty tin of Quality Street later and I had reached back home at the 6 mile mark. The plan was to stop quickly for a stretch and a drink and then head off again. I felt really good actually which surprised me but it was probably down to the fact that I paid attention to what I ate and drank the day before!!

So headed off again along the dual carriageway which is always a bit daunting with giant trucks whizzing by....it also amazes me the amount of drivers who pick their noseCool. And quite sad to see the amount of rubbish that folk dispose of along the road including a few bottles of orangey liquid...which I'm damn sure ain't juice!Undecided

It was baltic along here and I felt my bum getting numb...well I didnt actually feel it ...it just felt like it had gone missing. I had to stop at 8 miles for a big stretch.I'd had a bit of  niggly knee and the cold didn't help it at this stage.

Even though I had 2 miles to go home it WAS THE LONGEST 2 MILES YET! Urgh, I had to stop looking at that bloody Garmin...

And then I made it home.Hurrah!!!!!!  I am happy because if I look back at this blog to July 2009...I managed half a mile!! So there...it does work...

I felt like I could go on too..which is great because I KNOW I can do more and I've just gotta be patient.

CoolLaughing

Happy running xx

I am really getting into this running thing now.Managed 18.7 miles in total this week and feel quite good on it. It was only because I was able to get out more in the daytime. In the evenings I have to limit my routes due to lack of streetlights so it's very repetitive and BORING!

I joined a gym as well but I cant bring myself to run on the treadmills. They are so stuffy and horrible.

I did my LSR yesterday so having a nice relaxing day today. I did 8 miles yesterday.Had a bit of a wobble when the Garmin claimed it was about to run out of power. Bloody cheek....just when I need to document my longest run to date and you go and fade on me.The NERVE!!

Thankfully it didnt. Very pleased I was and felt surprsingly good after it.I even managed to avoid the post race headache. Hurray.Cool

My friend helped me drum up some support yesterday for my Quiz night but I need to get the finger out and keep on sending letters.I dont know what takes up more time...running or fundraising.

So one week gone and another week closer to the big day.Hopefully people will start donating other wise my husband is going to pay me £1300 to run the London Marathon in a beach volley ball outfit...which if you dont know consists of very little material and there is not enough money in the world to make me do that......well maybe there isWink

Have a good week running to whoever is running. x

It's a lovely day here in Perth and pefect for a nice long-ish run. I use the term long-ish as I'm still building back up from the break.

4.5 miles on a different route..nice and straight. Had a few walk breaks because my legs were just not wanting to play today. It was like dragging bricks or something. The stretching helped a lot. I'm not fussed by walking parts-it gets me from A - B without injury..which is important!!  It was very frosty when I set out and was very nearly hit by a skidding car whilst waiting to cross the road- he'd pulled out a little to give me space but the back end swung out and he went sideways down the road a bit and ended up facing the wrong way. It wasn't a good start to my run. I was  a wee bit flustered after that.

It was still quite icy in patches and had to switch from pavement to road a lot.

I'm back to suffering my dreaded post run headache but I know I just need ot sort out my fluids etc before I go.

Ah well of to the in -laws for some food.

Me legs hurt!

My laptop does NOT like this blog much.

It's very slow today..a bit like my run last night. This was my first outside run in God knows how many weeks.Well God DOES know and he is saying "Yeah like you're getting around the Marathon before daylight goes!"

I'm not saying how far or how long but considering I was down with flu, then pulled muscles and then crappy weather it wasnt too bad. lol.

I wasn't impressed in the slightest at running on the treadmill at the gym as I was facing a grey wall. There was a telly to my left but I can't run with my head tilted. And the belt seemed to be creaking the faster it went .I half expected the screen to tell me how many mince pies I had consumed over the festive season!

So the running mojo is creeping back.Even if I did have to run with flashy lights on so I could be seen. There were a bit useless to begin with as one of them fell off as I was crossing a road only to be missed by centimetres by a car...the light not me!! (because he could see me flashing!)

I'm a bit sore today but I'm glad I made it out.

Finally booked the hotel for London last night.Woo hoo.3 nights for me and my husband. It's all getting a bit real now!

Off for a longer run tomorrow.

Happy Running x

I can't be the only one who is fed up of snow now.

Very pretty to look at but a bugger to run in!!

I've been feeling fine since Christmas ,apart from the few extra pounds in weight(yikes) but can't get out running. I'm going to join the gym now so I can get some running in.I refuse to be put off by how many months are left..I will get round this bloody course if I have to crawl it!

Just over a month to my quiz night so away to start advertising it to everyone.Still trying to get prizes in.I have to write MORE letters to companies and ask kindly for donations of prizes.

I didn't hear anything back from Tescos about a charity collection-looks like I didnt make it .However, apparently Tesco Metro stores arrange their own stuff so I have written to them. Keep the fingers crossed!!!

Sorry haven't kept up with the blog but hopefully that will change soon.

Watch the ice! x

Yesterday I spent a glorious 5 hours standing in IKEA,in Edinburgh, with my bucket !

It was quite lonesome doing it by myself but had plenty entertainment in the form of IKEAs customers doing their festive shopping especially a poor woman who walked the length of the checkouts trailing toilet paper from under her skirt....oh dearEmbarassed

I had a nice cosy spot beside the food shop. I met a couple of marathon runners too  and lots of people wished me good luck which was nice.

I had  a bag of ballons for the kids which ran out after half an hour but it was nice to see kids running around with LOOK's yellow balloons. If only I'd had more!!

5 hours was a long time standing but worth it as I managed to raise £81. I was meant to be collecting the previous day but they had to withdraw for another charity.

I'm still selling stuff on Ebay too which has raised £40 so far.

The running side of it is not so good a I still cant run with my pulled chest muscle. It doesnt see to be getting better!!! I'm hoping to get out running over the festive season and see how it is. I'm a bit sad by it all as I felt I was doing really well.

Just a setback I guess...we all have them!!

Happy Running x
