A New Year, a new challenge. 2010 was fab for me.  I fulfilled a long held ambition, and ran in the London Marathon.  I achieved my dream of...

Feeling a bit behind the curve.

Feb2220118:42 p.m.

So, a couple of runs to update on.

Yesterday afternoon, I went out for Sunday's LSR (a day late - again!  It was planned to be a day late, as we had been at Tan and Will's, but I am conscious that there must come a time soon when I start doing them on a Sunday as I should; it plays havoc with the rest days  - or lack of them - in the week otherwise)

Anyway, I managed 13.2 miles, so that was OK in the round.  My worry, though, is that the last 4 or 5 miles were harder than they should have been.  It really was condition normal for the first 8 or 9, and I was pleased, despite the incessant drizzle.  The pace was fine, and all felt good.

Then, I really started feeling it around Oldbury on the Hill.  Bizarrely, at that point, I also started feeling that the IPod was giving me claustrophobia.  So, maybe it sounds a bit masochistic, but just when I potentially needed lifting, I dropped the pod, and ran on alone.  Good to know that I can keep going in situations like that, even with thighs that increasingly felt like concrete.

Anyway, I got it done.  But, nagging at the back of my mind was the feeling that the equivilent run last year was the Bath half, when I got a personal best by 5 mins as it was all going so well.

What's different?  Don't know, but I am telling myself it is the weight.  I am having such heavy weekends at the moment that it is making it hard to shed anything at all, despite the miles that I am doing.  So, just as well that it is Shrove Tuesday today (I think!), and I can go for an alcohol sacrifice again.

So, I've just finished off the last beer in the fridge, as I type this and as I recover from a recovery run.  Just over 5 miles in 45 mins, so all OK there.  Anna is away in Gsy, the girls are at my mum's, and so it's just me and the dogs tonight.  That helps tomorrow as well - as it's half term, I was stressing about how to get all the runs in.  With the girls away until lunchtime, I can get the thresholds in tomorrow morning.

Come on then, Glos, let's get back ahead of the curve!!
