If you go out with the wrong mindset..

..then it's bound to become a self-fulfilling prophesy!
I woke up with the habitual headache at the moment. Not alcohol related, but it does feel like a hangover. I think that, compared to when I was working, I am drinking a lot less water. So, I'm hoping that it's something as readily curable as dehydration. Aim for the next few days, then, is to up the water intake.
I walked the dogs, and then got ready for the thresholds that were planned for today. By 'got ready' I mean told myself that it was windy and rainy (again) and that it was going to be grim. So it was.
I was supposed to do 4 reps of 10 min thresholds, with 3 min recovery between each. I think I managed 2 that were what I would call quality (ie 7.30 pace), and one more that was OK (ie 8 min pace - something that I would have regarded as warp factor three a couple of years back, but is now something that I can beat myself up over). So, I managed to psych myself out of doing a quality session, which was very annoying indeed. All sorts of resolutions about weight and drink were made whilst I was out on that run in the rain.
One thing that it did make me look up was how much faster I may get if I lost weight. One report on the web suggested that a loss of 10lb would make me 9 mins quicker. Well, that's something to aim for. The thing is that losing 10ib at the moment would only get me back to my London weight of last year (although that was the lightest I have been since I was born!).
Back up to mum's afterwards to pick up the girls. So, only Anna missing tonight. That means I get the remote control - football no, masterchef yes!!
If you see my running mojo, be sure to post it back to me, won't you?! If it's like me, you should be able to catch it, as it won't be moving anything like fast enough.
Cheers all.

Firefly123 'Oh dear Jim. I hope we find your mojo soon. That headache sounds like dehydration to me - easy not to drink if you're not thirsty. Don't beat yourself up over your threshold session. You did some of the reps and thats better than none at all.' added 23rd Feb 2011

HellenH 'We all have days like this one-unfotunately not every run can be like running on air. Makes those ones even more special. Don't get too down - just think of how far you have come and what you have yet to achieve. You know that mojo is just outside your door! Try taking a glass of water to bed at night and just sip at it. It works for me :)' added 23rd Feb 2011

Nick 'Ah well, that's the thing with training - you're going to have your bad days. The only thing to do is to keep working away at it and, hopefully, watch that weight slowly come down.' added 23rd Feb 2011

Jenny1961 'Up/down/up/down/up/down..thats's what training feels like sometimes and I'm not just talking about hill training! Sometimes it simply feels hard. I can do a 4 miler and feel like I'm 30stone in weight. Other times I can do 14 miles and feel relatively great! All part of the fun :) Re masterchef last night- I was a bit annoyed that they had an x-factor type sad story re the lady cooking the roast in memory of her Dad. For gawds sake...let the cooking speak for itself!' added 24th Feb 2011
