Thresholds, and a new route

Feb2020115:12 p.m.

So, as expected I had a small amolut to drink with my curry on Friday night, meaning that I was shattered Sat morning.  The plan had been for me to repeat be4xactly what I did at this stage last year in thr p[orgramme, and run from Nailsworth to Stroud whilst L had her swimming lesson (the requirement was for 15 mins easy, 15 mins steady and 15 mins threshold).  In the end, she was too ill to go, and so we fired straight through to ma in law's, and I embarked on a route from there.

Well, it was like being caughht in Groundhog Day - the weather was the same as last week; windy and rainy.  Ah well, I got out, and I did it. Not a very inspiring route, just along the road to Barrington, and back - nice if the weather is good, but today there were no views to marvel at.  I slightly misjudged how far I needed to go before turning back, and so did slightly more than I should have done - just under 7 miles, at 8.01 pace.  Probably a bit slower than I would have liked, but good enough for the conditions.

I've now (Sunday) just come back from a new route.  We're staying with Tan and Will, and so I have delayed the LSR until tomorrow.  Will and I have just come back from a nice (if in parts slightly hilly and muddy) 5 miler cross coutry around their village of Pirton.  Nice, and certainly one of those runs that neither of us would have done on our own, as the commitment was distinctly lacking.

Now, staying here again tonight, but I will aim to have a look at a couple of blogs if time allows; Lady Fe will be the first to be looked for - a 50K run on her 50th birthdya.  Big respect!
