Robbie Blake is my new hero

Aug2020091:01 a.m.

Three runs since my lasy update, and all good aboard the good ship Harry.

The first was particularly good. Last Thursday set off on the usual route but with a little added which I thought would take me over 6 miles. The run itself was fine, not much trouble from the shoulder, and I finished at a sprint with the energy for more. My ipod had died a fair way before the end so I wasn't keeping track of time, and when I got home and checked my distance.. turned out I'd run 6.8 miles, so almost a full mile further than I thought and at a pace slightly quicker than I usually run. Which was nice.

Then on Monday I went with my lovely ladyfriend for a run where she lives, which is a damn sight more scenic than round my gaff. Took a gentle afternoon run round the 02 on the Greenwich peninsula then down the Thames Path toward Greenwich itself; a shade over 4 miles in about 50 minutes, which considering the heat was a pretty good time.

And tonight (Wednesday) another run with the aim of equalling the long run last Thursday, which I did with ease. Bit strange really.. I kept waiting for it to be difficult, or for something to start hurting, but it just never did. Before I knew it I'd done the full distance at 10 minute mile pace with a little added which took me to pretty much 7 miles on the nose. Warming down on the walk home I could barely even tell I'd been for a run, sweat aside, and my heart-rate was back to normal within a minute or so of stopping. I'm fitter than I think.
