Thursday is the new Wednesday

Jul1720091:13 a.m.

One run to report since the last update, on Tuesday, and it wasn't a stunner. Hadn't slept well the night before or eaten enough during the day, so only made it about 2 and a half miles before pains - probably caused by a lazy running style - stopped me. Did have a 45 minute cycle tonight though which is something I suppose.

Looking back over my runs so far I've apparently done about 46 miles since I started going regularly, almost exactly 2 months ago. Which isn't bad going, considering it certainly isn't top of my list of priorities. I'm running approximately 6 miles a week by those figures, and would like to have that consistently up to 10 by the time the ballot results are announced.

On that note, have been contacted by a couple of the charities I'd like to run for in the marathon which, although I know it doesn't actually mean anything, is encouraging at least. Happy with where I am, having gone from able to run 2 miles to 5 miles in 8 weeks, without injury. W00t.

  • Mrs_Old_Bird 'Well done on the run & the bike ride, Harry, any exercise is better than none! You're doing the right thing by building up your mileage and stamina gradually. If you are offered a chartiy place, grab it with both hands as you can always tell them if you get in through the ballot, and they can give your place to another hopeful. This is what I have done, so at least I can really knuckle down with the training now. Keep up the good work!' added 17th Jul 2009
