To hell with consistency

Two runs this week. None the two weeks or so before, but we'll focus on the good news for now thanks. So, two runs this week.
Monday evening, four times round the college which is a smidge over 5 miles. Had a really sharp pain in the shoulder up until about half way around but, as usual, it passed and I finished fairly easily. Felt I could have definitely squeezed out another mile. No adverse effects the day after either.
And then tonight, a mostly new route which I felt was needed as the college one is getting a little repetitive. Again worked out at just over 5 miles and I did it with relative ease, which is the first time I've managed 5 miles twice in a row. The other times I've tried it have failed dismally, so progress there I feel. No shoulder pain, very little discomfort in the legs, and I wasn't even having to try hard. I'm definitely capable of running over 6 miles now, will give it a go sometime soon but am sensibly pacing it slow still for now.
In other news, have applied for the Silverstone Half Marathon in March and for a charity place for the VLM with the Mental Health Foundation, who very kindly contacted me with some exciting forms to fill in. Feels a bit more real now I've done that, and I'm especially happy it was the MHF in particular since my grandmother had paranoid schitzophrenia and mental health is therefore an issue close to my heart.
So far so good.
