Urgh I must be red in the face with smoke coming out my ears and nose!

I'm so angry right now, its all my fault that I'm angry to be honst so its inward anger! Well we all know that my knee went gamy after last weekends long run. After resting, icing, elevating etc by friday it felt fine and dandy, back to its usual self. So off I trotted with my running buddie on a 20 miler. Well come mile 5 the knee decided it was going to let me know it was there and by mile 7 it officially reared its very ugly head and ping......OUCH........limp limp....... @*&%***!!!!!!@$................ I managed to hobble home for the last few miles as my house was thankfully mile 10, got home knee throbbing, sat in a very cold ice bath and cried like the big baby I am. All that was going though my head was urgh your not going to be fit enough to do the marathon! You cant even run 10 miles at the moment! 20mins of wallowing in self pitty I got out of the bath warmed up and took my anger out on a bowl of corn flakes and melted chocolate! I began to mix the easter treats I was making and realised I was being the biggest baby around and that yes there is a possibility that I might not be able to run the marathon but then again there are people out there who can help. Whilst all this thinking was going around and around in my head I had subconsciously began to eat the lovely cornflakes and choc mix getting caught in the act by my husband as I had chocolate smeared all down my chin like a naughty 5yr old! WHOOP! It was so worth it though! I have just had a call from the physio that my club recomended, I'm all booked in for Thursday and fingers crossed he has healing hands!

ClareVR 'Oh poor you, but like you say the best thing is to get some treatment and take it from there. Glad the chocolate and cornflakes helped a bit though :0) ' added 6th Apr 2010

Take it easy, and rest until Thursday (it is only another 2 full days in reality as you could run after the session if he gives you the all clear), and then take the advice from there. I know taper doesn't mean rest, but it does mean take it a bit easier to begin to conserve some of the energy levels you have built up, so you are not going to crash and burn with a couple more days rest, and you won't be risking making the problem worse that way!!' added 6th Apr 2010

STUBLACK ' May be a blessing that it gave you problems now rather than on 25th, at least you have a bit of time to get it looked at and hopefully sorted. Are cornflake cakes a recommended carb loading option?' added 6th Apr 2010
