How did you all do? What I mean by that, is how did you manage the heat? Today's marathon was more of a pass or fail...did you end up making it through the course without medical attention? I feel so horrible for the man who died. My folks were at the finish line and saw a man laying along the road...there were police officers near by, but they didn't check on him. I guess my folks and a friend lifted his glasses and he was completely passed out. It took over 20 minutes before they could get anyone to help him!
It was touch and go along the way. I started getting chills at mile 4 and then had to jog walk from mile 5 on out. It was tough walking the final 6 miles after they cancelled the race. Water stops were running out of cups and fluids. It wasn't pretty. I just wish they would have started the race 2 hours earlier. They could have alerted all the hotels, made TV announcements, etc!
Tomorrow is a new day, keep drinking fluids and make sure you call your health care provider if you're not perking up or having any chest pain! Actually, call 911 for chest pain.

Hi Becca,
I was just checking the Chicago Marathon website to see how some of my friends did... and stumbled across your blog for some reason. I just wanted to congratulate you on your determination and drive today. It sounds like it was just crazy out there with the heat! I ran four miles of the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee with a friend, and it was hot just doing that!
I also wish you the best as you continue in your courageous battle for continued improvement in your health. I am a huge believer in positive thinking and positive energy. I am sending you both!
I am running in the San Franciscion Women's Marathon in two weeks with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I will think of on my run!
Congrats again on your finish today and good luck tomorrow!
