Lesson Learned

So.... an update on my previous frustrations...
Ankle is not a problem. It was sore right after, but I ran on it 2 days later with no discomfort or weirdness. However, this strep throat and bronchitis thing has really kicked my butt!
The half marathon on Saturday was up in the air, being that it was 14 degrees outside and I was still moderatley sick. However, I didn't want to give in, so my friend Jessica and I went to the race anyway, to see how I would feel at 8:30 when it "warmed up" to about 24. I decided to run, knowing that the route would swing back by our car at mile 4, just in case.
The first mile was cold, but decent, but by mile 3, I had NO energy at all. And breathing wasn't exactly a breeze. At this point, I realized I had probably made a mistake by getting out in those conditions with some bronchitis still left in me. We walked mile 4, got water from the rest area, and drove home. I HATE to be a quitter, but it was the right decision. By Saturday afternoon, I was at least a day behind in my recovery. Lesson learned. Listen to reason -- and your body.
BUT, I will run my half marathon before year-end. Even if I map my own course and dub it the 1st Annual Jenny Dell Half.
My congestion still lingers in my chest, so training is on hold until Wed or Thurs.
