Something has changed.........

Feb0220129:31 a.m.

Smile Yes, it's actually starting to happen.

I've stuck to my plan and run, whatever the weather and feel really proud to have completed the first month without a miss.

Last night something changed. It was dark and freezing, running was the last thing I wanted to do when I set off.

I opted for lots of layers topped of beautifully with an old white T-shirt of my husbands and reflective cycle clips round my arms (very attractive) Looking every inch like I was wearing all the clothes I owned at once for a bet.

First a bit of background......... I know runners are a friendly bunch and come in all shapes and sizes. I've often chatted to people while waiting at a start line at my local 10k races and there's usually a nice 'we're all in it together' sort of feeling but I must confess -

over the last month I've noticed others that have been out at the same time as me and I've always felt a bit embarrassed as they bound past all kitted out and fit looking, almost as if they belonged and I was just mucking about, BUT

Last night, I got a couple of nods......Yes, I have been accepted!

Whether it was the fact that most have them have seen me out and about and realise that I'm not just doing the New Year's resolution thing or whether I just caught them staring at my gorgeous outfit and they felt obliged to acknowledge me (as opposed to laughing) I'll never know but it felt good, I feel happy and I'm starting to feel like a runner.

  • jillymit 'Thanks for your comments Shazzer, andyuns and Ruth22 I've had to squeeze in an extra run this week as I'm off to 'Meet the Experts' in London tomorrow. I had a quick look at some proper cold weather running gear today but the prices OMG! Think I will be sticking to my clothes of many layers, you never know I may start a new trend!' added 3rd Feb 2012
