Herts Games
Jun27201111:09 a.m.
The Herts Youth Games marked the end of my current coaching stint. 8 weeks coaching the most enthusiatic young people I have ever met. How ever hard I pushed them in the pool or on the track they always got stuck in an never gave up!
We had two great teams of 4 young athletes that competed in the technically challenging Aquathlon (pool swim then run) in the U13 and U15 categories at the Herts Games at the Hatfield sport village - what a great venue.
I think I learnt as much if not more than the young athletes in the 8 weeks. I learnt a lot about coaching, human behaviour, motivation and what sport is all about.
Its has to be fun, challenging & rewarding. Most importantly it must inspire to keep sport an activity for life.
Well done to my small squad of athletes! I hope you all keep going with multi-sport and one day take on a triathlon.
