    Sunday Sun

Well my wife, daughter and I are all on the for London Royal Parks Half Marathon and its time to get training. My wife is new to running so its starting from scratch for her and for me as injury kept me from running due to my broken ankle last year. Its taken me about six months to get going again. So today in the Sunday sun we set off for a jog. We headed down the Monsal Trail which has just been resurfaced and we did a 15 minute slow jog which didn't really getting me sweating but my OH was sweating. We are going to follow the novice routine on the website for the race but are working up to the June training session very slowly. I am going to do a lot of training on the bike and in the pool as my knees are not good.

Have a good week all. Keep on running......................Cool

    September 17th 2008 Knackered knees??

    Hi to all and any#

Time has gone by and my back has finally recovered after one year and a change of job, stopped driving now and cycle to work instead. Just done the coast to coast cycle ride with some mates over the worst weekend of the year. Rain, head wind and more rain, followed by roads washed away etc etc, but we did it with only two punctures and  a load of food, boy do you get hungry cycling.

So back to trying to run once again, signed up for the Royal Parks London half marathon for coeliac uk as I suffer from the condition so couldn't say no when asked to help out.  See our site www.justgiving.com/streetteam does anyone have a few shillings to spare? Seems like no one wants to spare a dime these days with things being so tough. Thanks to those who have, love you.

Just done an 8.5 miler this morning in an hour and a half, not good wrecked my knees as usual. Oh well what do you expect at my age 46 and getting younger. My daughter did the same run in 5 mins less than me yesterday so not happy. Keep on running all you fitness freaks and charity greats.

Any suggestions for old knackered knees?

    Injury and ill!!!!!

Been rough with man flu according to my daughter, until she got it today ho ho. Also now got a trapped nerve in my back so running has been out. Getting a bit panicky with not having trained now for over a week.

    Keep on running.

    New Year Beckons

Hi all its chucking it down here in Derbyshire and my knee is killing me and my back is smeared in Ralgex, help this is supposed to be the first official day of my training. Any suggestions as to how a 45 year old can do it with this lot on my back.

Found the route planners on here great for mapping out routes and very accurate having checked out my 8.2 mile route in the car and on here it is spot on. Saves having to buy expensive kit to GPS your mileage when out running even on the hills and trails round here. Check it out if you haven't used it yet. My routes are on there if anyone in Derbyshire (DE451TA) fancies doing a bit of training, I have a mate who cycles with me to keep me going as well. He has just done a 55 mile charity cycle ride so is fairly fit, and he is only 36!! My daughters keep threatening to join me on a local run but so far the power of the duvet in the holiday mornings has kept them pinned to their mattresses. Keep on running.

    Advice please

Hi to all hope you are enjoying holidays if not working. I have been cross training on my bike over the hols as my knees are playing up as well as my lower back! And I haven't hit the real program yet! The foggy cold weather has not helped has it along with too many temptations in the kitchen. My new heartmonitor has been brilliant, the only problem is that I seem to be running at 90 percent of my maximum heart rate all the time, which is rather scary. Did an hour and ten minutes on Saturday and couldn't keep it down to 160 I did 56 minutes at 170. Being 45 years of age but only weighing in at 80 kilos at 1,88mtrs tall I think I have a poor heart for my age or I need to slow down considerably. All advice gratefully recieved.

    Keep on running.

    Mark
