About

After completing two London marathons in 2009 and 2010 I was hoping for three in a row.  No such luck as I got the reject magazine last week and ...

Well it has been a good week for me and it isn't often that I can say that when it comes to my running.  I went out on Monday and di 4 miles and just felt so good.  That feeling of it all being right ; no pain and just really enjoyed it all and ran an average of 10.45 a mile which is good for me.  I thought that it couldn't continue but it did.  I did a brilliant cross training session in the gym and another 5 mile run at averages of 10mins 34 and then an 8 mile run yesterday.  I put in a long (to me) hill of 0.7 miles followed by another  0.5 miles of slowly continuing to be going uphill and ran it all.  Still did the whole lot in 1 hr 32mins.

I think that I have been enjoying the running as a stress buster from work.  I work in local government and we got told on Wednesday that there will be a full senior managers review and there will be redundancies for the start of the next financial year!  Guess they will wait till then to try to change the redundancy payments from where they are at the moment.  It is scary times but just have to get on with things.  Things being that I went to see the last night of the Take That concert in London last night. Reading to Wembley took 2hrs 45 mins to get there and 2 hours to get home but it was well worth it.

Today have sat and watched the grand prix on a cinema screen with a couple of beers which was great even if the result wasnt.

So far, I have rasied £230 for my GNR  so need to get a move on with that front.  Hope you all have a good week of running.

Sorry to hear about the threat of redundancies. We had an awful time at the college last year with all managers having to reapply for their jobs, much merging of departments and many redundances. It was very stressful for all involved. Colleges of Further Education have had their budgets slashed drastically and the implications have been far-reaching. Even this year there have been a couple more but the Principal has worked extremely hard to minimise the number of redundancies. Lovely to hear about your positive experience of running! Long may it continue :)' added 11th Jul 2011

Sounds like you are trying to incorporate a few hills into your routes. I'm trying to do the same, in the past I've always tried to plan my routes around them! But, I know deep down that they are great training. So, stick with em!' added 14th Jul 2011
