4 week to go!

Mar3020083:36 p.m.

Time is passing so slowly - I'm ready to hop on that plane NOW!  All reservations are made (after a brief glitch when my hotel called to say we needed to find a new place to stay, as they were closing for 3mo for renovations).  The new shoes are out of the box and have about 20m on them (I'll just use them for my remaining long runs).   New little camera fits perfectly in the side pocket of my Race Readys and it took great test pictures during yesterday's 13-miler.  The dogs/cats have their places reserved at the kennel.  Kids' teachers are aware they will be missing school.  Matching race singlets for the 10 family members doing the Full and the 5k Walk have been ordered.  The PF in my right foot (which totally derailed my fall marathon) has made little more than a whimper this month.

Anyone else just itchin' to GO??

  • Candace 'Yes, I always get nervous as the marathon date approaches. It's less than a month now (as you know!) and I get a little bit more antsy as the dates draws near. I try to put it in perspective and this calms me down. Training and running a marathon is a great accomplishment. It means you have are healthy enough to run, it means you're motivated and it usually means you're a positive person who sets goals and meets them. When I get nervous about the looming marathon, I think of many of my colleagues who have real reason to be depressed or miserable. One lost their son last week, another has cancer, another is in a miserable marriage with an abusive alcoholic. I could go on and on, but you get the drift. So all of us who run marathons are lucky people. Even though there are always periods in every marathon where I feel miserable and want it to end, I always want to run another one right after I cross the finish line. That's the beauty of the marathon.' added 2nd Apr 2008
