Hello friends and family!
I've run 3 marathons and 10-ish halfs as well as I could, trying to improve my times, finding out my limits.
Well, I'm planning to Big Sur 2008 for FUN! Not to get a PR, not to place in my age group. I want to enjoy the experience and the beautiful scenery, take pictures, talk to my fellow runners and that guy playing the grand piano, meet the Hug Lady, smile when I cross the finish line and mean it!Post views 415

runher 'this is the perfect course to run a *pure* marathon. soak up the scenery, talk to other runners, eat the strawberries at mile 23, dance to the music. who's the hug lady? i've run 18 big surs and have no plans of stopping any time soon. there is definitely something magical about this marathon.' added 28th Oct 2007

kiyoken 'I am training for my first marathon (Big Sur) with my 17 year old daughter. I am very excited, and at the same time a little nervous at the prospect of running my first marathon. I am doing this to fulfill my own personal goal of enjoying and finishing my first marathon at age 45. I live in Seattle, and I wanted to get any advice for a "newbie" marathon runner. (I run at a 8-9 minute/mile). Any advice would be appreciated.' added 1st Dec 2007

mum2girls 'kiyoken - I've obviously been negligent in monitoring my blog, as you can see. I hope you and your daughter have been training strong. My 16 & 18 year old daughters will be doing the 5k walk w/ their cousins, so I won't have the opportunity to share the whole experience w/ them that you will have w/ your daughter. runher - Someone once posted about a hippy lady who handed out Free Hugs during the final tough hills of the race, around 24-25m I think. Maybe I'll just start hugging people if I need extra energy at the end...' added 30th Mar 2008
