Tapering Training before L'Etape

May24200911:46 p.m.

I think I have been a little drastic in my tapering regime in that I've not been on the bike now for three weeks.  There was the calf problem and my bike has been in for a pre 'race' service but I don't think you're meant to stop training altogether so far out from the big day?  I did  yomp around Northamptonshire on the Waendel Walk  a couple of weeks back and today I did some gardening and had a stroll round the park but in retrospect maybe I should have got a few more miles bum on seat so to speak.

Talking of gardening, I managed to pick up another injury, a blister!!  I decided to burst it and hope it doesn't cause any issues with my gear changing en route.

Yesterday I did the bag run and dropped off spares and most importantly my night attire for Tuesday night.  Thanks to the Malborough House Hotel, http://www.marlbhouse.co.uk/ , for accommodating, pun intended, our requirements.

So all ready to go and I will fit in a final pedal out tomorrow morning to ensure everything is in working order, bike included!!
