Get off the couch, Rebecca
Dec2920075:14 p.m.
OK, my official training doesn't start until January 14, at which point I'm going to be in an aching hip, tender shin, sore foot sort of haze. I haven't run more than 10 miles since LAST YEAR'S Cleveland Marathon.
So at this point, my goal is to just get some good base mileage in before formal training begins. The trick, it seems, it just to entice my post-Christmas, sloth-like, cookie-eating self off the couch. It's so warm. And cozy. And cuddly in flannel jammies with the dogs. Come on, Rebecca, think about all that new gear you got for Christmas. The new running pants. The cool new Nike pullover. The water-resistant jacket. I love my new gear. I'm just not sure yet if I love it more than my couch.
I DO love to run outside when it's cold, though. Especially if the skies aren't producing any sort of precip (then you've just gotta get ugly, all with baseball caps and earbands and hoods and whatnot). OK, I'm going. I'll do a quick run and I'll be endorphin-happy for the rest of the afternoon.
