Broken & Sore !

Apr1220121:01 p.m.

Hi,

well I've not  blogged in a while . The main reason being I have been very behind with my training due to numerous reasons. Started too late, illness etc etc.

My longest run has been 15 miles and reading everyone on here with their 20  milers etc. I've been embarassed to be honest.

Still with two weeks to go I have been doing a taper and on Tuesday went out for a gentle 3 miler . All was well just a little niggle in my right knee but nothing to really worry about. However at mile 2 bang - sharp pain from the back of my knee up my thigh. Ouch - tried to run through it but it was too painful I had to walk. Abandonded the run and walked the half mile to my sisters for a lift home.

Very painful that night and developed a limp yesterday. Booked the Physio he had a free appointment at 4pm. Managed to get out of work early and make the appointment. He was brilliant did some accupuncture ( first time I've had this ) and a massage. It seems I have a slight tear in my hamstring however he's confident with the excercises and another session next week I should be able to make the race. Not fast ( now I have an excuse for not going fast) but I should be able to make it around the course .

Got home told my husband the verdict he was pleased for me .Then I went to get changed . On my way back downstairs I slipped on the top step fell down the stairs and hit every one of them on the way down. Ouch !!Cry

So today here I am battered and bruised feeling a little bit sorry for myself & feeling like I've done a round with Mike Tyson.

Hope your last weeks are going better than mine.

See you at the Red Start I'll be the one shuffling at the back.

  • Mrs_Old_Bird 'Bless you!! Don't worry - I'm sure you won't be at the back, and the atmosphere, along with the fact that you'll be taking part in the best road race in the world in such an auspicious year, will more than make up for the bumps and bruises! Go Sue!! Kay xx' added 12th Apr 2012

  • sdoherty1 'Thanks Kay - I'm sure I'll feel better in a week still there are people on here with a lot worse who won't make it so I'm trying to be positive x' added 12th Apr 2012

  • crooxi 'Oh dear, I don't know of any training plan where the recommendations include falling downstairs! But the bruises should be better in a week, the hamstring ditto, and I'm sure the great atmosphere will make up for any missing mileage. Good luck! ' added 12th Apr 2012

  • shazzer2 'Oh dear Sue - you poor thing! What a time to pick up a few bumps. Hope you are feeling better now. Well done on getting to the 15 miles - there are plenty of people who don't get that far. The atmosphere will be amazing on the day and will see you home. ' added 13th Apr 2012
