Life will never be the same again
Feb0120124:27 p.m.
I can barely believe I am writing this but just after a month after my last post my mum passed away on 11 January 2012. It was 8 weeks from the date of diagnosis with Leukaemia - it was so sudden, too sudden. We are totally devastated and our whole lives have been turned upside down.
Thank you for all your kind comments on my last post. I took your advice and continued to run, in fact that is about the only thing I have done in the last month is run - it certainly helps to clear my head and helps me get to sleep (the red wine probably helps a bit with that too!). I have run miles and miles in a daze and I also seem to be running faster. My marathon training seems to be on track with 13.1 mile training run completed last Saturday in 2hours 21 minutes - which is also a 4 minute half marathon PB for me!
I will be there (barring serious injury) on 22 April running London for my Mum. Have just set up my just giving page raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research if anyone would like to sponsor me.

Mrs_Old_Bird 'Heartfelt sympathies to you. My Dad passed away very suddenly (phone call one evening from my Aunt at the hospital after he had collapsed, gone the following morning), so know just what you're going through. It will get better, honest. As toddingtontrotter says, you will do your Mum proud and see you at Blackheath. ' added 1st Feb 2012

I'm really chuffed that you've continued to run and by the sounds of things it's been some good therapy. Your mum will be there, as will mine, cheering us round all the way. Cheers to your mum and good luck with th erst of your training. xx' added 1st Feb 2012

giff1967 'Sorry to hear your sad news. My Mum died two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, on my birthday, 16 months ago. I did my first 10 k very shortly after. I think you are right to carry on running, it does help to get out and have something else to focus on, but don't be surprised if you find yourself crying when running. I did , completely out of the blue! I felt a right numpty but hopefully no-one noticed as they whizzed past in their cars! I have chosen, " Macmillan" for my sponsorship as they were there for us when we needed them. And good luck and go for it, you will be proud in your achievevment.' added 2nd Feb 2012

simonedumergue 'Sharon, I am so sorry that I missed the news about your Mum's passing away. I have been so sporadic on FB and RB of late that I seem to miss key things so readily. 8 weeks - hardly time for you to get your head around the diagnosis, let alone prepare for what you have just gone through. Terrific idea to dedicate your marathon effort to your Mum. Keep on running - the healing powers are indescribable. xx' added 3rd Feb 2012
