...TO HAVE A MEDAL!!!    What an amazing experience - I can honestly say that I enjoyed the first 17 miles.  I had fun with the crowd ... WEREN'T THEY AMAZING (ask yourself would you have stood in that weather to give encouragement) and tried to take in the enormity of the whole occasion!!

I hadn't taken a virtual tour of the route, in fact i really didn't know too much about the route (I think I was too scared to acknowledge the reality of what I was about to undertake) so I have to confess to being a little bit blurred to where I was at any time until I spotted my whole family at 'Narrow Street' which I think was 14.5 miles, Heidi and Andrew, Matthew and James were somewhere before then and although I can see them now I need them to tell me exactly where they were!  Matthew where was that 12 foot wall you were perched upon?  Daunce I was soo pleased to see you - we can talk weddings now!  TOWER BRIDGE - that was just fantastic, my definite high point in terms of realisation of what I was undertaking!  Smith family you were fab there!

The low was after the 17 min loo queue at mile 17 (well I think it was mile 17, there was just one portaloo on the corner and the queue was tiny)  and I just couldnt get my legs going again - I had to tell them that this was just the start of one of our normal runs and that the first 45 minutes were always difficult but it would get better ... it did, but girls I know I couldnt really speak (well not at all actually) but I was happy in my head (it may not have shown on my face!)

Four of us ran together with an agreement to stick together and enjoy the experience which I can truly say I DID!  I need to say THANK YOU  to Sue for your support and encouragement (she's done it before), Emma for listening to my  fears and doubts and  to Victoria who I only met on marathon morning for supporting Emma in her long runs ... GIRLS WE WERE GREAT!!

3 of us crossed the line holding hands at 5.09, had a team hug and a cry, met my fantastic family who have been amazingly supportive (my 4 year old son Charlie said on thursday "Mummy you know you might not win the race" to which my 2 year old Oliver replied very crossly "Yes you will Mummy")  (Mark the Sunday roast is your job for ever) and then we wandered across to CHILDREN WITH LEUKAEMIA  WHO HAVE BEEN AMAZINGLY SUPPORTIVE.    I said to Caro 'thank you so much for a fantastic opportunity, I've raised a huge amount of money for you but I WON'T be doing it again' ... (I think her response was 'that's what you're saying now'), I had a massage (please tell me why it was my right shoulder that was giving me gip not my legs), the masseuse felt my calves and said 'you wouldn't know you'd run 26 miles),  we then wandered over to our meeting point in the park - Martin your gazebo was a fab idea and Miles your banner was great!  Please tell me why approx 20 minutes later (so, maybe an hour and a half after the finish)  I found myself thinking I might just do one more... and a goal of under 5 hours would be good ... and 2010 sounded like a good year ...  WHO KNOWS?!

I have 3 video tapes to watch of the BBC coverage (thank you Spence and I did mean it when I said I loved you this morning) INCLUDING us crossing the finish ... wey hey! and a MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL YOU BLOGGERS FOR YOUR COMMENTS, EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS HELPED AND NEXT TIME (if there is one) I WILL BE A BETTER BLOGGER, (my 14 year old niece will give me some tips)  and finally THANK YOU ANDY FOR BULLYING ME TO DO IT AND TO CARO AT CHILDREN WITH LEUKAEMIA FOR SAYING YES - if you'd given me time to reconsider my decision I would've talked myself out of one of the best experiences of my life ... SO FAR!

Oh yes, did ANYONE stretch afterwards - that went completely out of the window as I clutched my medal ...oh I just want to go on and on ...just as well I am meeting Rod tomorrow to do a marathon dissection!!!!
