I CAN DO IT!

Mar31200810:47 p.m.

Well I meant to post this yesterday but ran out of day and I was definitely more positive yesterday BUT I'M GONNA DO IT!!   I've decided to use the power of positive thought and stop torturing myself by questioning my ability!

Two things happened this weekend:

1. Sue & I had a good run - 1 hour 45, not a huge distance but we did the cliff run that was the very first training run I did way back in rainy january!  Yesterday the view was stunning, the sky was blue and werent we lucky to be able to enjoy it!!  We then carried on along the coast and back to Sue's house with relative ease.  I DEFINITELY COULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT IN JANUARY!

2. An old mate popped in for 20 mins on Saturday morning - he's done 8 marathons in his time and I greeted him with 'I'M SCARED' It was about midday and this was his response

"If I said to you now let's go and walk 26 miles would you be scared?"

"no"

"So dont be scared, we could leave now and be back by 6 o'clock so just enjoy it.  Don't put your head down and think about finishing, look at the crowd, enjoy the people, the music, their support and dont think too much about it!  It is the most FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE, YOU ARE VERY LUCKY, ENJOY".

So that's it I CAN DO IT!  Made lots of decisions about my diet, not overdoing it at work and making my gym and myself an absolute priority for 2 whole weeks ...  well I left work at 7.30, never made the gym and ate a sandwich at my desk in about 5 minutes flat and definitely didnt drink enough water!!!  Hey ho, never mind - I CAN DO IT AND SO CAN YOU!!

  • seeannierun 'My favourite running book "Marathon running for mortals" talks about having "the Courage to Start" - it's going to take us all serious amounts of courage to get to that start line - but once we're there, we have every chance of finishing!!! Exciting! Annie x' added 31st Mar 2008
