Half Way there ...

Feb1520108:12 p.m.

I've viewed this weekend as the half way point of my training. Six full weeks have now passed this year and in six weeks time I'll be starting the taper. Up to now its been all about running long lonely miles - whereas in the next 6 weeks I'm doing three races (+ more long lonely miles!) So yesterday I rounded off the first half with an early morning 19.5 miles (2hrs 31 mins - finished by 10am). It snowed, sleeted, rained, was muddy under foot - but it felt really good. After a really sluggish couple of runs last weekend this one restored my confidence!

I guess my half term report might give me something like a B+. The mileage has gradually ramped up (just under 40 miles last week) and the speed is improving a little. Plenty more to do (I know from experience that the first 20 miles is the 'easy' bit) but I'm hopeful that I can do myself justice.

It was amazing how many people were out in the Great Park yesterday morning, despite the weather. Everyone with their own unique targets and reasons for not being snuggled under the quilt. Congratulations to all - and whatever your targets for the coming weeks - good luck and keep going!!
