Thames Path Challenge

Sat 29th - Sun 30th September 2012, 9am - 10am

Thames Path, Richmond upon Thames, London United Kingdom

Event Description:

Take part in an epic endurance walk against the clock following the Thames Path National Trail and help us to beat breast cancer.

Choose your challenge for 2012: walk either 100 km in 24 hours or 50 km in 12 hours along the Thames Path National Trail.

From Putney Bridge you will follow the Thames Path west towards Windsor via checkpoints at Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, and Shepperton before arriving at the National Trust site at Runnymede, the finishing point for 50 km walkers.

As darkness closes in, refuelled on a hot meal, full distance walkers follow the river as it meanders into the open countryside beyond Windsor. Regular checkpoints welcome support and motivation throughout the night. Dawn breaks as walkers find themselves amongst the most idyllic stretches of the river upstream of Cookham, as they push on to the finish line at Henley on Thames where family, friends, supporters and a hot brunch await.

  • Take on the ultimate 24 hour challenge and complete the full 100 km
  • Tackle the daylight challenge and walk 50 km in 12 hours
  • Enter as an individual or assemble a team
  • Replenishment checkpoints and hot food stops along the way
  • Full supported route with pace walkers, medics and physios

Registraion for the 100 km distance is £75 per person, with a minimum fundraising target of £300.

Registration for the 50 km distance is £50 per person, with a minimum fundraising target of £200.
