This morning, I was out in my shorts and a long sleeve shirt, running down by the Chicago Lakefront. Temp was a balmy 53. I am looking outside at 8:30 pm, snow is blowing sideways and it is about 10 outside going down to below zero tonight.
Back to the indoor track tomorrow- Round and round and round I go.

Then you're probably the one I can ask: When it's very cold, is there a brand of tights I might wear that's warmer than others?

For moderately cold weather I have a pair of Nike tights with a thin wind panel on the thigh or a pair of pearl Izumi tights. They are good down to about 20. Anything below that and I would recommend the Sporthill. I use these if it gets down below 20. I hate wearing more than one pair of pants so these do the trick.

I usually start with a hat but have a headband in my pocket. Unless it is reallly cold, I find that after I warm up for a few miles, I need to switch to the headband to keep my head at a comfortable temperature.

In keeping with the trend but at the risk of sounding silly, how about gloves?
I need something that is warm but still allows for freedom of finger movement as I fumble with my belt.
