Fuel and water

After seeing what happened in Chicago at the 2007 marathon, I'm know I want to have a fuel belt or water bottle holder on me for this marathon. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good one?

The best out there is probably the following: But I wouldn't use it for the race.

I personally wouldn't recommend it for your water needs. Only if you needed to carry gels, towel, etc. There will be water stations every mile or so. Do you really want to run with 2 - 4 pounds of water around your waist for hours? This race will have 2000 runners at most and will not run out of water like Chicago which had like 40,000 runners.

Fuel belts are mainly for long training runs where you don't have friendly volunteers giving you water and gatorade every mile or so.

I prefer the amphipod. The belt is a little smaller and the bottles attach to the belt a little nicer. I have the 2 bottle 10 oz each and the small pocket and it works great.

Chicago had 40,000 entrants and Ft. lauderdale has 4000. There was plenty of water and gatorade last year.

I use a fuel belt for my long training runs and a handheld Amphipod with a strap for all the others. It is a long way to go in the marathon with either. I also agree with the last post---there was more than enough water and non-water products last year. There is no reason to believe there won't be this year, especially since the numbers are so very much smaller than Chicago.
