Are IPODs permitted during the A1A run?
Last year there were plenty of us who had them. I know that the FAQs state that they are not permitted but I'm sure that was there last year too. A friend of mine ran the Miami one and they wore them. Again, on the site it stated that they we not permitted.
Hopefully someone will chime in with a more concrete answer. We can also ask when we pick up our packages.

I also used IPOD 2 weeks ago at AIG Miami Marathon......
Have NEVER had a problem.....
This is a fairly small event. And it will be dark for the first 1/2/ hour. Also this is FLORIDA...we have a pretty laid back and causal atmosphere.
Weather update as I live and train here...Be prepared for HUMIDITY! Weather forcast is predicting a pretty warm race on Sat. Low's 68 and high's 80. If accurate will be great running while dark but when that sun comes up (around 7:00ish will feel as if it is 80). Also, be prepared for a breeze off the ocean if there is any wind that day, again 5 MPH wind can feel like 35MPH.
See you at the finish line
More and more, races are being forced by USA Track and Field to enforce the no iPod rule. I'm working on organizing a local 5k in my town and asked what the deal was with the crackdown. Seems pretty ridiculous since the roads are closed, but the person at USATF said they have had some incidents where people have driven onto/through a closed course and runners have been hurt. One marathon (can't remember which one) actually reviewed video footage of the finish line and anyone they saw with headphones was DQ'd from that year's race and barred from the event in 2008.
I would ask around at the expo if they are doing anything like that and if they aren't, go for it.
If you ask, they are going to tell you that they are not allowed. They have to as it is a certified event. If you have ever been to any of the other events run by ESM, you would feel pretty comfortable running with your iPod. If you are really nervous about it, pull your earphones out when you are coming to the finish. It would, however, thoroughly surprise me if they enforce.
I also don't think it will be 80 by 7. The high is predicted for mid-80s, and highs usually hit in the afternoon. It will feel muggy for those who aren't used to it. I live on the beach and run the course everyday. The wind is generally out of the east, but there are some predictions that it will be still on Sunday.
