Hi everone, just signed up for the race for next year. It will be my first time to run it.I will be running it with my best friend who ran this years race, so i thought i'd give it a go. I have only been running for about 11 months, & have been running a few 10k races, got a PB at each event that i have entered, although not entered as many as i would like to have. I have got planned the Norwich Half for later this year, & hopefully before that another closer to home the isle of Axholme in Hepworth. Really looking forward to it. As anyone else signed up? Hope to see you there.

Considering running this but wondering if a few laps around the course is just a bit dull. Surely there's not a great deal to see and not much spectator support around the course.

This will be my first half marathon since the early 80's when I ran the James Heriot half marathon in Yorkshire!! Looking forward to this? Mmmmm ask me on March 12th
I've convinced one to join me so far and hoping to have spammed a few more into it by the end of October. In the mean time, heres to some serious training and lets face it, it may be a few laps round the track but with a few thousand others there will be plenty of folk to talk to!
Good luck with the training! I'm sure it will be great to get back out there and do another half marathon! How's the training going so far?
I signed up to and this will be my first half marathon. In fact its going to be my first event of any kind where long distance running is involved!! Gulp!!!
Am a huge motor racing fan and love Silverstone which was one of the attractions of signing up. Also gonna be raising money for ME North East too, which is a charity close to my heart these days.
Good luck with the training and with the run in March...

Sounds like im not the only one who has signed up for something which at this point feels enormous in terms of challenge. But hey big goal, big potential is my phylosophy. currently up to 10k distances at a pace that will never win me anything other than a major sense of achievement even if i do the last mile on my knees (wonders......should i be lookinga at knee pad user reviews?):)
I'll be running in support of the prostate cancer charity as an added incentive.
Good luck all, with the training and journey. Look forward to seeing how everyone gets on over the next 5 months.
Good luck to you both with the training!

If you're doing that distance now you'll be really prepared for the race. Take it easy and don't panic, you'll do great!
i've done this event a few times. well organised, nice goody bag. the course is a bit boring though.
Motor's 100 Marathon Mission
22 Marathons and 2 Ultras done only 76 to go
Ooh what's in the goody bag?
If i remember correctly, I had a medal, tshirt, towel, various items of food and drink.
Bit more than your usual medal and banana!!
The great eastern run has the best goody bag i've ever rec'd. all of the above plus a running rucksack and a flannel! The tshirt and rucksack were worth receiving alone!!

That's a great goody bag1 Worth all of the work
That does sound like a great goody bag! Out of curiosity, which race do you reckon has the best medal?
hmm..I've never seen one, but I reckon the virgin london marathon medal must be pretty good
The London marathon medals are okay, probably the most sort after. but not the best looking
I did the Enigma Gold marathon (milton keynes in august) and you get a gold medal i you are sub 3.30, a silver medal if you get sub 4.00 and a bronze with sub 5.00.
it was only £17 to enter and its the best medal i've ever received (have over 100 of them). It comes in a presentation box and inside is a plaque which says "Sub 4 hours" and the silver medal was big, thick, chunky and heavy.
most other medals are just bits of medal in comparisson! Made me wish i'd pushed a little harder for the gold

Would definitely be nice to have a gold medal! I wouldn't even scrape a bronze one, but maybe you could do it again and go for gold?
