Best ground to take in an Ashes test?

I aim one day to see an Ashes test match in Oz but would love to know which ground is the one that people would recommend. MCG, SCG, the Gabba spring to mind, but which would be the best for Pom to experience the full Test experience and banter.

I have been outside the Gabba and inside the MCG and SCG. MCG is massive and I recommend the tour !!! I was at the SCG on the day that Mike Atherton declared when Graham Hick was on 98 not out !!!!!!!1 He was NOT amused !!!!!!

I think that the MCG and SCG are such different grounds they'd both be well worth visiting. For the sheer size the MCG would be an amzing place to watch an absolutely packed and tense Ashes test. The Sydney Cricket ground is smaller and more characterful. Like an Australian Lords.

I wonder what it's like for the aussies that have tickets to Sydney - bet they are gutted!

I'm biased because I live near Melbourne but I would have to say the MCG as the Boxing Day test is such an iconic event in the sporting calendar.

I was working boxing day so couldn't be there this year but was there for day 2. The crowds and thereforre the atmosphere were amazing and the Barmy Army were on excellent form.

Perhaps it wouldn't have been as good if England had played like the Aussies Wink

I went to the SCG yesterday and sat high in the stand with the city skyline in full view. Test grounds don't get much better than this place. I'll dig out a pic and post it as soon as I get chance.
