How much water or other liquid should I be consuming when running (off road in particular) - how much should I drink per hour and how often should I drink?

Robbie This is really a personal preference thing. Ideally I would try and get through 500-750 mls per hour though this is often not realistic. The body has amazing powers of adaptation and can be trained into functioning on much less, though you then start entering cramp territory.
I find it hard to take on enough water during the longer runs, I don't like to carry water with me as it affects my posture and then I find I do succumb to cramp as a result.
Sometimes I'm here, sometimes I'm not.
