Has anyone had their "marathon stress dream" yet?
I've read about the "Marathon Stress Dream" in Tom Holland's book and how it's a phenomenon that affects many runners before their big day. Well, mine made its debut Friday night and went something like this:
We arrived in Chicago and checked into the "dorms." (I say "dorms" because in no way did they bear any resemblance to a nice hotel!) Our room was small, but fairly clean and comfortable and I remember thinking to myself, "It's okay, I can sleep here." We went out to dinner and I made my best effort to get to bed at a reasonable hour....The next morning I woke up and went for a walk outside with Lucas and my niece, Hannah. Just around the block I saw at first dozens and then hundreds of Chicago marathoners already dressed and stretching for the race. I found this odd, because we still had 5 or 6 hours before the gun went off at the starting line. But all the runners were ready, wearing their singlets, shorts, bibs........oh, BIBS! BIBS! OH NO!!! I forgot to go to the expo the night before and pick up my bib!!!! Not only did I fail to pick up my bib, but also my team MMRF running buddy Luke's bib, too!!! I panicked, because I knew that there was no bib pick-up available the day of the race!!! WAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Suddenly I woke up. I let out a big sigh of relief and told myself I will NOT forget to go to the expo, I will NOT forget to go to the expo, I will NOT forget to go to the expo, I will not for-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I read about that phenomenon with fascination...wondering if it really happened to folks!!! So sorry you had yours...and now that I read about it, I will probably have it too!!! But, if it makes us more careful on race day, then maybe it's good you got yours out of the way!
You'll be great, don't worry about it...you are ready, strong, and competent-you can do this!
