Family activities in the area

I'm bringing my family with me to the Bank Trust Race. We'll be sticking around for a few days before and after. Are there any good family-orientated activities about that we could investigate after the race?

the explorium is a great palce for the kids and the hands on musuem. Bellingrath gardens, The USS Alabama are great tourist areas. The gulf of mexico beaches is less than 1 hour away! Enjoy, :D
