I decided to sign up for a 5k in late July, I used to run before I got married which was 24 years ago, I decided to get back into it. Im using the couch to 5k on my smart phone. Today was my first day, I am happy I finished it without cheating. But I have a question, should I eat before a Run and if I should, What do I eat?
Experiment, see what suits you, some people feel better with an empty stomach, others with a good bit of fuel inside them. If you do eat before, give your food plenty of time to go down first. As for what to eat, at this stage just try to follow the standard advice for healthy eating and you should be fine.

For a 5k you probably don't need to worry too much about nutrition so carry on eating as normal. Personally I have to leave 2 hours between eating and running, but I know people who will eat 5 min before going out.
Drinking is probably more important for you. You don't need to take water with you for a 5k run, but you should make sure that you drink plenty throughout the whole day so that you are hydrated before you start, and have a glass of water when you get back home afterwards. It's not very warm out there yet but as we come into the summer months hydration becomes more important and it is worth getting into good habits now.
You're always better than those who didn't try
thank you both so much for the advice. running has changed alot with the do's and dont's since i used to run. i'm doing the c25k program and do you think it is okay to do some walking or biking on my no run days, i don't want to cause an injury or setback.
Is it ok? Walking and / or cycling on your non-running days is great
! Just remember to give yourself one day off a week at least.
