1000 Miles

I am planning on targetting 1000 miles over the course of 2013 (Jan to Dec). This will be a mixture of solo training runs, social runs and events. During this time I want to beat my PB at 10K, 10m, Half Marathon and try and fit in one marathon. Now for the questions!

  1. please hit me with any hints and tips, especially those with experience of this type of mileage
  2. what events should I sign up to?
  3. are there any running groups based in the Salisbury area that I can use to help with some of my training runs - I'm going to need some company to keep my motivation up

That sounds like a great challenge! If you want tips about all of those distances take a look at the realbuzz running section, lots of good stuff in there Smile

Salisbury has a very active running club.  I also know that the Civil Service Social Club has some lunchtime runs, depending where you work.

Hi,

thank you all very much for your comments. I'm currently having fun researching events to take part in next year (so far have registered for a marathon, a half and a 10k, but expect to add a few more as more events open their 2013 entries).

I think that I'll be in touch with Salisbury's running club in a few weeks - I just want to add some base fitness before making a fool of myself. I'm just hoping that they'll take anyone, I'm very much a plodder at the moment.

Good on you trauts, I'm sure you won't make a fool of yourself! You certainly have the determination to succeed. I'm new to running too.

50 miles per day!? That's 2 marathons! I think your stamina is fine as it is!
