as a relativly new runner i would really like to take inclines in my stride but find i slow down (alot). other runners always seem to overtake me on any incline. even the runners whom i outpace on the flat!!!!!!!!!

should i use the treadmill? practice more on hillier routes?

At school we were taught to attack the hills and catch out the opposition, recover on the downhill and speed up on the flats. Keep this secret as I am not sure many others know my secret!

Hiya

Try to incorporate a hill training session into your routine once a week. I found it really helps. I found a nice hill with a loop on the end of it and I power it up the hill and recover on the way back round. I usually do about 10 reps.

You can also use the treadmill. Its easier to control the incline and you can pick how fast/slow and how high the hill is if you cant find a good one outside.
