There is a 10k and 5k run in the Toronto Zoo, what is that like?

I think the course for the 10k starts outside the zoo then goes inside. The 5k and cub run is completely inside the zoo. It's not an easy course and there are a few stairs to climb too. But it's a unique location if that's your kind of thing.

Hmm...I'd like to hear from people who've run the zoo event. That sounds interesting but would like first-hand details.
I'm going to be running this one race, and the deciding factor was the "Cub Run." My daughter is thrilled to be running in a race "just like Mommy"!
I've run this event many times and enjoy it. The course is interesting because you run past Giraffes, hippo's etc. The aren't any big hills but you do cross a few bridges and have a small set of stairs (about 6) to climb. The crowd is thick at the start but it improves as everyone stretches out. There are a few spots on the route that the path is narrow so you have to watch your footing.
The event is well organized and you can spend the rest of the day in a very cool place.

I've run it a couple of times. It starts by the car park at the zoo and then goes onto the road but not for very long. As someone else said - you run with animals looking at you etc. There are a few steps, I think fairly near the end, but only half a dozen. You should run it - it's fun! Your family get a discount that day too!(by the way, it says I'm in the U.K. - but I'm not - how do I change it?)

This sounds like a great race to do - hope they do one similar in the UK!
Let the animals out. I'm sure that would make you run faster. Seriously though, sounds unlike anything else you'd come across in a marathon or are there other zoo marathons out there.
Do or do not - there is no try!
I've never heard of them over here - bet they'd be quite popular though!

They have an annual 5k family fun run through Chester Zoo in the UK (Run for the Wild). Anyone ever done this?

I haven't - but it sounds really good (could possibly manage a 5K), and it's really close!

I'd like to do the Chester Zoo one, would definitely be interesting running through the zoo! Do you know when it is?
September 25th. Think entry is still open for it.

Thanks! I might think about entering
Are there any zoos even big enough to do a marathon in? Or do you run around them too?
I would just get too distracted, stopping every few minutes to look at the monkeys, elephants and tigers.
Sometimes I'm here, sometimes I'm not.
I don't think there are any zoos big enough for a marathon, think it's mostly 5k and 10k races they have.
I guess it would be distracting, but as I don't think I'd be running it at any great pace, there may as well be something interesting to look at as I make my way (slowly) round!

I don't think it'd be too distracting especially if you've been to a zoo before, I think having certain points in the zoo as markers for certain distances would be pretty motivating!
Yeah I don't think it would be too distracting, and would break up the miles a bit. I like having something to look at when I'm running (get bored easily) so I like the idea of this
