Driving home from the marathon yesterday I was thinking back to last year and the last minute course change due to a house fire as well as a near fatal heart episode on the course where quick action from fellow runners and medics saved the day. The Pig has become a huge event with over 23,000 participants, over 150,000 spectators and hundreds of volunteers covering three days in May! When I think about all of the possible scenarios of things that could have gone wrong this weekend, but didn't, I have to take my hat off to Iris and all those associated with organizing and staging this massive undertaking. As a runner I have always felt appreciated and pampered, from packet pickup to the post race party. This is an event the Tri-State can be proud of and should continue to fully support. Congratulations to the Flying Pig on its 11th successful year and for providing so many of us another great running experience!
