I brought a camera with me on the course. They turned out better than I was expecting.

You really did a good job of capturing the day. You should see if you can post these to the Picture Gallery on the Pig website. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thankyou Fern and Streaker for letting me know you liked the pictures.

Streaker -- do you have any idea how I might go about getting the pictures on the FP web site?

I'm not sure, other than to try contacting them first by e-mail at

Great photos. I hope that the folks from the Pig can take advantage of these. It really shows off the course very well on race day. The course tour on an empty course is nice, but race day photos are so much more telling. Thanks so much for sharing these.

Great memories and views of the pig experience. Thanks. As someone else posted, these shots are a fantastic way of showing off the fun setting of the event that the FP organizers should make use of.

So, did you just held the camera on your hand while running? How did you finish?

Thanks for the kind words, echoguy and ramonrdl!

I've sent an email to info@flyingpigmarathon.com to see if they were interested but haven't heard anything back from them. I sent an email to the volunteer coordinator with a link to the set so the volunteers could see them. I heard back from the coordinator and one of the volunteers, but that was a "thankyou" for letting them know about it and telling me that they liked the pictures.

Yeah, I just held the camera in my hand while running. I stopped maybe half of the time to take pictures (like the one with me and the guy in the chicken suit). There were a couple of shots that I actually had to go back for because I saw something and passed it before I could take the shot (like the clock tower in Newport). I should mention that I didn't post about 50 or 60 of the pictures because they didn't turn out all that well. Not that all of those I did post were all that great from a photographer's perspective; but they do show what we saw as runners. :)

How did I finish? Slowly. :D But I didn't really care that much. My chip time was 4:17 something.
