Event Fee Donations

Hello, My name is John. I'm from Columbus, OH and I've heard great things about the Flying Pig Marathon. I;m fairly new to running and just plain out can't afford to come and run this race and was checking to see if anyone ever donates to runners to cover the cost of the event.

My story: I spent 20 years years mobidly obese and 10 years hypertensive, but with my hard work and my membership in Weight Watchers I've lost over 100 pounds since 7/06 and just took up running last March. I love running but the cost of entering so many events is too much for my budget.

I'd love the chance to come to Cincy to run this great event and if anyone could help me out please let me know. My best case scenerio would be a Weight Watchers sponsor that way I come come and speak to the group and maybe give a motivating lecture in exchange for the race fee.

I hope you all can understand, and thank you taking the time to read this. I hope to see you in Cincy, and I would love to see pigs fly in person.

Are you planning to run the full marathon?

I have a group of runners/walkers where I work and might be able to pass the hat at our group training sessions if you are serious about going the distance.

Have you done other marathons prior to this one?

Hi! I am a weight watchers member in West Chester Ohio. I would love to talk to my leader and see if there is anything we can do. It is so motivating to see people push themselves to meet their goals, I would hate for someone to miss out just because of costs. Could you tell me a bit more about how much you need to raise, and where you are coming from and what your travel plans would be.

To answer the previous question, I have run the Columbus 1/2 marathon last fall. Finished in 2:08 so i'm trying for sub 2 hours for 1/2.

About my plan. I need to cover enough money for the race fee which will go up Friday the 4th. All other costs are covered due to I have a friend who wants to come and watch me run.

I'm coming from Columbus in Saturday in the afternoon, but could come in the morning if I need to talk to a class, or group of donors.

Saturday night I have no plan right now, but once I'm registered. I can firm things up

Thanks to all who have read this and your thoughts and kind words.

Much Love.

John.

Could you send some photos and more info about your weight loss journey? I can talk to my leaders and appeal to my ww group and I'm sure we can raise the money. There are around 40 people in my group and the center holds 8-10 meetings weekly. There is a saturday morning meeting you could attend while you are in town. You can email me at sietseld@yahoo.com.

Information was sent, cost went up Saturday to $70 so if you able to help please contact me. If you can raise the money I can pick it up on my way to the expo on Saturday. I work until 12 noon then could be there by 2:30 P.M.

ANY ONE WHO WANT TO HELP, PLEASE DO SO.

ATTN RUNNERS: Does anyone know of anyone who is willing to sponsor me for the 1/2 Marathon?

A new runner in need of help, to not only run, but to lose the last 10 pounds after taking off over 100 pounds, so any help is welcome.

Please help if you can.

John

We got Kroger to sponsor a disabled athlete for the Hope and Possibility on Sat. You might approach a local business. You may have waited too late for this though, but maybe for next yr.

I still am looking for a sponsor for the half marathon fee. If you can help please let me know, or ask around. I want to run the pig in 2008.

Thanks for helping if your able.

Thanks to all of you who helped out to make my dreams of running this race happen.

I finished the half in 1:56 (PR) thanks to Matt the pace team guy(3:50)

What a great race, good swag bag, and the crowd was A+.

I hope to see you all next year, and I hope not to post seeking race fee donations due to a large amount of negative feedback.

I'm still Jiggy with the Piggy.!!
