First Time Marathoner finished, but the Pace Groups...

Generally speaking, this is a nice feature. Not so for me yesterday, though. What gives with the 3:30 pace group trying to run me over? I fought with that all the way from the start of the race until about mile 3 when I just had to leave them behind. I started slowing at mile 22 and they cought up with me somewhere around 24. Do you HAVE to pass me shoulder-to-shoulder when there's an entire lane of traffic + open to my left and right at mile 24? Seriously? At that point in the run, it's hard enough to keep upright, let alone keep steady when someone has to rub shoulders with you as they go by. To the pacer's (George, I believe his name was) credit, he was talking everyone through it and trying to tell his group to give plenty of room. Obviously not a lot of listening going on. Almost as though they thought had more of a right to be out there in that spot than anywhere else. :x

Anyone else have this trouble? Having run 2 Flying Pig half-marathons and lots of other shorter races, this was new to me.

Anyways...rant over. What a fun day. Thanks to all who added to it!

--had the same problem with the 5:30 pace groups. They, too almost ran me down. It was like they were all joined at the hip and were afraid if they didn't stay in a pack, they wouldn't finish.
