Aside from the main race what other events are connected to it. Is there a race for kids as my eight-year- old son would like to be involved in some way?
Life in the fast lane, running in the slow lane
Crazy 8s has several races for kids, called the Little 8s Youth Runs with distances from 100 meters to 600 meters. All races are on the football field inside the stadium. Crazy 8s also has a "Crazy Field Day" for kids with old-fashioned field day activities, like sack races, tug-a-wars, etc.
On Friday night prior to Crazy 8s, there is the Crazy Mile, which is part of the State of Franklin Track Club Youth Festival of Miles.
Can you elaborate on "Crazy Field Day"? It sounds interesting and might entice my 12 year old.

The Crazy Field Day was started last year. It's basically a field day similar to school field days with sack races, tug-of-wars, and other games. It will be held an hour or so prior to the Little 8s Youth races. Kids and parents are welcome to join in. The local YMCA organizes the field day.
