I'm not used to running in the dark. This race is at almost 10:00 at night. Does it make that much difference?
Should I train at night? Is there something I can do that will simulate running at night? Is it important?
You shouldn't have any trouble seeing because the course is pretty well lit. The main difference I think is the difference in the time of day for your body. If your body is accustomed to morning runs or morning races, then it might not respond too well to a late nite race. Or your body might be gearing down by 10 pm if you've been up all day. When I ran nite races, I used to take a nap several hours prior to the race, then wake up and go to the race. The nap rested my body and then I could wake up and feel refreshed for the race. Of course, then I usually stayed up well after the race!!
Good luck!
i have changed my running time of day to 9 pm in anticipation of this race. you are right. my body was NOT used to running that late. i sure am glad i read this message!
