Crazy 8s is part of a large city-wide festival called Kingsport Fun Fest. The festival starts on Friday afternoon, July 11th with a downtown street festival called Mardi Gras. There is also a parade Friday evening, and usually jazz/zydeco type concert downtown Friday evening. It's a lot of fun!
There is a road mile on Friday just prior to the parade, run along the parade route. This event is called the Crazy Mile. It's flat and pretty fast, with one turn.
If you're into cycling there is a very nice cycling event Saturday morning, called the Tour de Possum Creek. There is a 25 miler and 45 miler. Many people do the bike event in the morning and Crazy 8s that night.
