Long weekend

Trying to plan a long weekend with a few of my girlies for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Any suggestions on good places to go in the UK/Europe?

What sort of thing do you want to do? Do you want a city break sort of thing?

Anything really. I'd like to go somewhere I've never been before and not too expensive, but that's my only criteria really.

http://www.laterooms.com/ is a good site if you are looking to stay somewhere in the UK. I've booked some pretty posh places at reasonable prices on here. Best booking last minute ideally however.

In addition to laterooms, you can get good bargains on lastminute.com - they do a 'secret destination' offer, which would be risky, however if you can figure out where it is it's less risky. I booked a room using this method as the description matched the description of a hotel I'd looked at on on laterooms, in the same area etc, so I figured it was the same hotel, and it was, but much cheaper. Lastminute must do this so they can undercut other sites, without annoying the other sites too much I guess

Did you find somewhere to go? Going for a long weekend away sounds like a good idea, I always end up wasting my bank holidays!

A few of my mates have done long weekend in Ireland which they've really enjoyed - although this it was pretty expensive!

Where about in Ireland did they go?

Dublin, then they went somewhere else to see family, but not sure where that was.

Groupon have had some hotel offers recently - although not sure if they'll be available over the bank holiday weekend - lots of places put black out dates on cheap offers at popular times. Still worth a look though.
