One of my friends from the States is coming over to visit for the weekend - any suggestions on where I should take/show her? I was thinking maybe Llandudo (show her some Wales) but need somewhere else as well...

Have they been to London - obviously lots to do and see there!

Not sure I'd have enough time to take her there as we'd spend at least 5 hours of the day travelling back and to, so would like to try and go places a big closer to Chester.

Although it's abit cheesy, but there's a ghost walk on in Liverpool this Friday! But you get entertainment plus a tour of Liverpool. And you could go for drinks or dinner at the docks after. http://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Liverpool/Blackburne-House/Shiverpools-Family-Tour-Shiver-Me-Timbers/11501046/

That sounds awesome, but she won't get here until late on the Friday. Well up for going to that another time - have you ever done the ghost walk?

Or just Liverpool in the day sometimes - great food places, drinks, the docks, Beatles/Matthew Street, and great shopping!

Or how about a day to Snowdonia - blinking good walk would be good

I took her to Llandudno on the Saturday - got the cable car up the mountain, but then walked down it. Then, we went to Chester on Sunday and did loads of touristie stuff - walked the walls, went to the Cathedral and had some good British pub food!

Sounds good! I'm always intrigued what "British food" actually is... what did you have?

We had a roast dinner, fish and chips and then pie and chip (pretty healthy weekend...) - she was very excited by the mushy peas!

What did your friend think of it all? I love it when you take someone to new places.

She loved it. It's just a shame I didn't have longer with her to show here more of the UK, but hopefully she'll come again soon.

That sounds like a pretty good balance of UK food! At least you don't live in Scotland, imagine handing some haggis to your friend as a regional dish, probably wouldn't go down well.

It's great to show people around your local area you end up seeing the place through new eyes learning new things and it ends up feeling like you are totally new to the place too. I grew up in Cornwall and didn't go to Newquay until I was 21 but because some friends wanted to go we went - it wasn't that great.

Yeah I'm going to London next weekend. I'm from there originally but am lucky enought to have never had it spoilt by having to work there. I've been to quite a few of the best cities in the world and (aside form the odd riot or two) london beats most of them!

She went up to Scotland after visiting me, need to find out if she tried haggis!

I will be impressed if she did, a lot of people won't even give it a try.

I really was - then we had tea and biscuits - also very British - she'd never had milk in her tea until I met her in the States - she loved it though, especially when you can dunk digestives in it!
