Butlins go bling

Heard on the radio this morning that some Butlins sites have had a healthy living make over. Healthy sushi bars replace the the gravy slinging in the canteens and relaxing herbal infused baths are available too. Tempted?

Ummmm not really, even with prices on the up with flights and the euro i think a two week holiday in spain is cheaper than Butlins.

Have you ever been to Butlins?
Hell on earth, regardless of whether they sell sushi or not!

Been a couple of times. My son loves it there, alot of the entertainment is aimed for kids under 10 can't go wrong. It's alot cheaper than Europe if you book online and get it at the right time deals. Me and my so wend last August, I think we paid about £150 for four nights half board (breakfast and dinner), Couldn;t have gone anywhere else for that!
As for the sushi bar, can't see it being a massive hit, but it's addming more choice to thier menu so it might work for them. I can see the relaxation stuff working tho, it might not bring many more people in but if a families already booked, again it's another thing to do there....
Sushi at Butlins????
Now, I have been quite a few times to Butlins and the standard/silver food is some of the worst I have ever had. We paid for half board but ended up eating out most nights!!
You can upgrade to the Gold/Delux half board restaurant and the menu there does like nicer but it is then getting very expensive to upgrade.
No offence to anyone who goes to Butlins but it is not the kind of place that people will appreciate anything other than fish chips and beans!!

Ever been to Centre Parks Himji? Great for family weekend breaks if you like being active. I went on a bit of a family get together and it was brilliant - seeing my Dad inline skating was a memory I'll never forget!

Not been. I've heard it's good tho. Will look into it, I suppose there'd be lot;s of cool stuff for the lad to do too :)
Just on the subject of Butlins again......
The one we go to is in Skegness (yes dump I know but closest seaside to where I live!) They have a spa there, not sure how popular it is but it does seem quite pricey to pay on top of your holiday!

Never been to Butlins. I think they suffer from the Hi Di Hi image of redcoats, bluecoats or whatever they wear. No amount of sushi is going to help them get rid of that image.

Cant really see that going down too well, but atleast it offers more variety other than chips with everything.
I went to Butlins last year; great for a long weekend with your buddies, not too sure about having family holidays there though.
I knew someone hwo worked at a butlins. They were the biggest reck-head ever. After knowing that they'd employ someone like him to work there I could never take it seriously no matter how much sushi they gave me. And I love sushi!
