Heard a couple of fleeting chats goin around the office about Interrail. I did it back in 2006 and it was great. Share your interrail or crazy European travel stories here.

Where did you go when you did it Jack? I was planning on doing it one summer, but ended up on a regular girlie holiday to Spain...

I loved it when I went - Would love to go again, the sleepers are amazing!

I went through france to switzerland then onto italy. We went quite far down the boot stopping at various places and then went back up through germany and home via holland. I missed so much coz of time limits though. I wanted to go to Austria and into eastern europe. Another time i guess.... sigh

That sounds awesome - was it expensive to do?

I hear you have to be really careful as there are some unscrupulous people around who just like to target people om trains especially when they are laden with bags. One on my mates woke up on a sleeping with someone lying right up against him trying to get his money bag from around his waist.
It ain't half hot when you're running, mum.
Yeah It's same anywhere though right? I've done some interrailing and we were mobbed by group of gypsies in warsaw. They were doing funny dances around us and I had the foresight to firmly clamp my hand over my wallet in my pocket my mate wasn't so lucky and had his phone nicked. It was pretty funny coz I could feel their hands going in and out of my pocket as they rotated around us! Still would recommend it, was AMAZING.
No way, I think that would have terrified me! It's a good story to tell though, quite funny in retrospect I would imagine (especially as you kept your wallet)!

That's horrible!! What did he do?
I think he gave him a good whack and shrugged him off before he just gave up and moved on. I know a few people who have had problems with being 'charged' by gangs running up packed public transport in Paris.

yeah sleeper trains are the best
Couchettes are pretty rough though- had a shocking night in one but maybe it was my fellow passengers.
Sometimes I'm here, sometimes I'm not.
...but still good fun

They don't look too comfy - although travelling whilst you're sleeping is a great way to make the most of your time.

What's one of those then? Sound's more like something you'd be more liekly to eat than sleep on.
In Istanbul, we won it five times!
Hmm this doesn't sound like something for me, I like to spend as little time as possible travelling in as much comfort as posible with as least danger of being mugged as possible!

There always an element of risk with any travelling but you just have to be a vigilant as possible and try not to travel alone. One of you can sleep while the other one is lookout.

Yeah there's always an element of risk with anything, but some things are more riskier than others! I'm not knocking this, just don't think it's for me!
